Marci Wilding is a writer, law professor, and law librarian at the University of Mississippi whose work is rooted in the archives, landscapes, and overlooked histories of Mississippi. Whether tracing the ownership of a nineteenth-century tract of land, writing about a fleeting moment with her daughter, or following an old courthouse record into unexpected places, she is drawn to questions that begin with ordinary lives and lead to larger stories about memory, belonging, and what survives.

As Public Services Law Librarian and Assistant Professor of the Practice of Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, Wilding teaches legal research and risk management and compliance law while helping students, attorneys, and researchers solve complex legal and historical questions. Wilding is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of Mississippi with a minor in Gender Studies. Her research examines how institutions recognize, preserve, and value human experience, particularly through archives, organizational systems, and the often-overlooked work that shapes communities. Across her academic writing, she is interested in the intersection of law, history, archives, higher education, and gender.

Her writing has appeared in Oxford American and Information Today. She has received recognition from the National Women's Studies Association and Feminist Formations and is the recipient of the University of Mississippi School of Law Faculty Diversity Award. Whether writing for scholarly, professional, or general audiences, she is interested in making complex ideas accessible through clear storytelling and careful research.

Mississippi is both the setting and the source of much of Wilding's work. Its courthouses, libraries, historic homes, rivers, and small towns provide more than a backdrop; they are living records of the people who built them, inhabited them, and were sometimes left out of the stories they tell. She is fascinated by the way a single question can travel across generations and repositories, revealing connections that are invisible until someone is willing to follow the documentary trail.

Wilding is currently writing Risk Management and Compliance Law, a casebook under contract with Carolina Academic Press. She is also at work on literary essays exploring memory, family, and place, as well as a historical mystery series featuring a Mississippi law librarian whose investigations uncover forgotten histories through deeds, maps, probate records, and archival research.

When she isn't writing or teaching, she is usually somewhere in Mississippi with a notebook and a camera walking an old cemetery, studying a courthouse deed book, exploring a historic house, or standing beside a river with her children, following the next question.
